Big sprawling big box type of place where you don't want to walk from point to point because there's just no… point. It's a brutal non-landscape and it's absolutely tragic anyone can believe these monstrosities are definitions of town centers. These things are hell for the human psyche- we didn't evolve to function at a scale like this. They're environmental hells- they reflect back tremendous quantities of heat and prevent normal water absorption and distribution. Pavement was demonstrated to be a huge factor in Houston's destruction; you can't pave over everything and not expect damage.
I saw nothing that made me think there could be any safety concerns but if there were, how is a place like this a long term solution? We're not thinking here, people. We need to start thinking smaller, not bigger. I'd never celebrate a thing like this. I dread it. I use them when I have to and I loathe them. Give me the normal size of a place like Boulder- the attitude of reusing a building or making do with the same space for 30+ years, where I can park and walk to 2 fabric stores, hardware, home Depot, 3 liquor, 3 grocery, many clothing, many restaurants, many shoes, many salons, … or take the bus and do it. Includes plenty of parking without ridiculous acres of it.
