I became accustomed to bike shops on the Western slope just wanting to get everyone riding on their bikes and they did it with a smile and great customer service. I first went here last summer, as I strive to support local business when possible, for some part and was greeted with hostility and vowed not to return; however, I gave them another try this spring with needing a new tire. Went in and bought a tire ($80) and asked if they could throw it on for me...about a 5 minute thing. "Its gonna be a week until we can install that. We are backed up." Odd...I asked if I could just the air compressor to avoid a trip back home. "No, you can't use any tools." I casually compared this visit to my last one and said that this came as no surprise. Jack Dean told me that "that guy" was gone that was giving everyone a hard time and to make up for it he would put my tire one quick, but still charge me. He spent some time telling me on making sure to put the tire on the right direction (one way tire) and I was on my way. Note: He actually installed it backwards after the lecture. A few days later I returned after I had a sidewall hole with less than 15 miles on it to see about warranty. This interaction was less than desirable. "We can't do anything. It is your fault even though it was installed backwards. We can warranty it for $60 that you have to pay even though you bought it from us a few days ago but we can't exchange it. My jaw dropped at the way they handled this situation. BOTTOM LINE: I PURCHASED THE SAME TIRE FOR $30 LESS ONLINE AND CONTACTED MAXXIS WHO WAS GREAT WITH ACTUALLY WARRANTYING THE TIRE AFTER I SENT IT TO THEM AND WITH GREAT COMMUNICATION. SAME SHOP, SAME EGO WITH THE SAME NEGATIVE RESULTS AND WILL NOT RETURN.
