I explained that I was going through a hard divorce and that I needed to cancel my wife’s membership. As if by some eternal blood covenant they told me there was nothing they could do, absolutely impossible, and that I would have to keep paying my wife’s membership for another 3 months. I tired to explain that I still wanted to be a member as well, for why would I remain and keep paying for a gym with absolutely no sense of pragmatic human compassion? But of course! How naive of me to think of myself as a human being, within the cold industrious greed scape of a corporate entity... well I just signed my cancelation document alongside my wife’s. Out of pure spite!? Perhaps... or out of conviction for a nobler principle!? I myself cannot truly say. But in all seriousness though, I understand rules are rules and contracts are contracts. I am happy to pay them for the remaining 3 months. All I asked for was a little human understanding to which I found an expressionless void, with no attempt to save or retain my membership. It’s just to bad, they could have kept a loyal member who would pay them their coveted green paper idols for years to come. But alas there are many competitors to choose from.
